Permanent Total Disability Benefits – One of the biggest concerns injured workers have is what will they do if they can’t go back to the kind of work they do because of their injury. For most of them, unfortunately, workers’ compensation doesn’t provide a good benefit to compensate them.

What is Permanent Total Disability?

There are some workers with injuries that are so devastating that the injury will render the person. These are called permanently disabled.

Permanent Total Disability (PTD) is a wage loss, not during your treatment, but after your treatment.

How can I get PTD?

To get PTD under Workers’ Compensation in Colorado, the injured worker has to show that they’re unable to earn any wages at any job.

What this means is that, theoretically, if you’re capable of doing a minimum wage job part-time after your injury, we can’t get you anything for your lost wages after maximum medical improvement (MMI).

That’s why it’s important that if you’ve been placed at MMI and you have heavy restrictions that make you question whether or not you’re going to be able to find work. Additionally, you have to contact a lawyer right away so you can pursue Permanent Total Disability.
