SSA Employee No Longer In Trouble for “Excessive Workplace Flatulence”

Aug 22, 2014 | WC & Other Laws

Last month a Social Security employee was reprimanded formally for releasing an “awful and unpleasant odor” at work.  Included in the formal reprimand was a log of at least 60 “incidents.”  The reprimand letter stated that the employee’s flatulence created an “intolerable” and “hostile” work environment.

This month we’ve learned that the reprimand letter was withdrawn when Social Security senior managers got wind of the letter.
