Traveling To And From Work Injuries

Mar 18, 2025 | WC & Other Laws

Traveling to and from work Injuries – In general, injuries that occur while coming and going from work are injuries not covered under Workers’ Compensation. However, there are cases where the worker can demonstrate or prove a specific connection or a hazard that brings to their well-being, showing that commuting within their job duties can be considered work-related. In these cases, the injuries can be considered and covered by Worker’s Compensation.

For example, if you have to bring your car to work because part of your duties involves you leaving work and going to the post office to drop something off, you’re giving something of value to the employer other than just you showing up for work and proving a connection to your work.

Another example can be, if you have to transport people or equipment to and from work in your private car, that could be enough to turn your commute into a work-related function. Also, if you’re driving a truck or a car that has advertising for your employer, that might be covered under Workers’ Compensation.
