Kaplan Morrell NFL Report

Aug 22, 2014 | WC & Other Laws

As one of only two law firms in Colorado selected by the National Football League Players’ Association (NFLPA), Kaplan Morrell helps the Denver Broncos players when they need advice and legal representation regarding any injury that occurs as part of their employment.

Michael Kaplan recently attended the NFLAPA’s workers’ compensation annual meeting in April 2012.  The two topics that were most intriguing were head injuries and using “bounties” to incentivize players to injure the opposition players.

Accidents happen and no one wants those in the workplace, but what happens when an employer pays its employees to intentionally injure you? That is what occurred with the New Orleans Saints. Coaches paid athletes to intentionally hurt others and knock them out of games. The NFL has come down harshly on the Saints; however, former and present players claim that bounties are paid league wide.
